New York -Day 5

Today we headed to Hoboken, New Jersey so I could live my dream of going to Carlo's Bakery!!! I LOVE the show Cake Boss on TLC, and if you have followed this blog for a little while now, you also know that I LOVE to bake! So when we discovered that Hoboken was just a 30 minute subway ride away, I just HAD to make it happen!

Hoboken was a really nice place! And I was SOO pumped when I saw this sign...

And then we saw the line...

Holy Moly!! Apparently I am not the only one that loves this show! Ha!
And this is where I must give my AMAZING husband another shout out...because he waited in that line with me for...ahem...2 and a half hours!!!! He must REALLY love me!!!

This is us standing in the line!
Two HUGE bus loads of pastry lovin' women arrived just after we did!!
Thank goodness we were ahead of them in the lines!!

Then we FINALLY got close enough to see the actually bakery...
I was soooo excited!!

Me!

Husband of the year I tell ya!!

And then we finally got to walk through those doors!!! It smelled DELICIOUS and I seriously wanted to eat everything!

The bakery looked exactly how it does on the show, which made it even cooler. Buddy and the other family members were not there, and we were informed that they are only there when they are taping for the show!

YAY!! We are INSIDE Carlo's Bakery!!!

This is where Buddy does his cake consultations!
When they are filming for the show they take that TV down and replace it with a portrait.  The consultation area was roped off, but while we were waiting for our number to be called to order, a couple of guys came to pick out a cake. It was super neat to see them meeting with some of the staff to order a cake!! Took bad it wasn't buddy!!I would have died!!!

Woo hoo! We got our order!! Best day ever!!

After leaving the bakery, we hopped back onto the subway to head back to Manhattan.

We stopped off at the hotel to drop off our baked goods and to have a taste of the famous Carlo's Bakery Cannoli's!! They were FABULOUS! And so were the other treats we bought!! Definitely worth the wait in my opinion!! Ha!

After our afternoon bakery snacks, we headed to SOHO on the subway! This area of town had a really neat vibe to it...unfortunately I was too busy looking around at everything to take many pictures! Oops!

The streets of SOHO...

One store that I had hoped we would seen in SOHO was DASH!
The store that the Kardashian sisters own! They showed it alot on their show so I thought it would be neat to actually see it in real life! Of course...they weren't there! But it was still cool!!
And I did buy a $12 key chain...ha ha those darn Kardashians!!!

I was only able to snap one picture in the store because one of the guys that works there kept giving me nasty looks...

We travelled around SOHO for the rest of the afternoon, going in and out of shops and just sight seeing! Sorry for the lack of pictures!

Then we headed back to the hotel, cleaned up for dinner, had a great meal at a small Italian place, and then headed to BROADWAY!

We had booked our tickets for 'The Book of Mormon' a few months ago and we were pumped to see it! It is rated #1 on Broadway right now and we had heard ALOT of amazing things about it! It was also written by the guys who wrote the TV show 'South Park', so we knew it would be super funny!

And it did NOT disappoint!! I have seen ALOT of musicals, and this by far was the FUNNIEST one I have ever seen. It was also extremely vulgar ha ha but that's what made it so funny!! I totally recommend seeing this one if you ever have the opportunity!!!

The theatre was beautiful and the set and props were unbelievable!

After our Broadway show we took the subway to the NOHO area. We walked around exploring for a little bit, and then found a lounge to have a few drinks. It was a great way to celebrate another wonderful evening!

On our walk back to the subway we walked along Cooper Square!
Aw I sure missed 'Coopy' (my parents dog ha ha) this week!!

Back on the subway heading back to the hotel to BED!

We had a GREAT day 5 in NYC!!

New York - Day 4

It's hard to believe that today was the mid way point of our trip already! And it was a long anticipated day because of the concert we were attending in the evening!!

We started the day with some breakfast at Starbucks! Mmm Vanilla bean Frappiccino!!!

Then we hopped on the subway and headed to the Meatpacking District.

We did a little bit of exploring and walking around, and then we headed to the 'High Line'! The High Line is a VERY old railroad track that was transformed into a green space and trail. It goes from 14st - 26st and is beautiful! There is a ton of greenery, rest spots, food kiosks and water features along the walk. We walked the trail from 14st-23 st!

The High Line

Along the High Line trail...

It was SOO hot this day so I needed to take a little break!!

After getting down from the High Line we were in the Chelsea area. We are not huge art gallery people, but we knew we wanted to check out a few of the Chelsea Galleries. The Chelsea Galleries are world famous because this area has the highest concentration of art galleries in one place, in the world. There is something like 300 art galleries within a few blocks! That is ALOT of art galleries!!

We decided to check out...4! Ha!!
They were all VERY different, but neat to see!

A few of the pieces of art we saw...

This was the elevator we had to take at the first art gallery we went too...TERRIFYING huh?! And there was even a guy sitting in it running it up and down!! I did NOT feel like I was living in 2013 at this moment...

Walking to and from each gallery...

And then I noticed the parking along the street...
Ummm...how exactly are these vehicles going to move ANYWHERE!?!
Oh wait...they aren't!! Crazy people...
There was literally 15cm in front of and behind the vehicles...

Next up we went to the Chelsea Market! It is an indoor market with just about anything you can think of there!

This was my favourite shop at the market!! It smelled sooo good!! All of the spices were fresh, and I LOVED how they were all just in the open so you could see and smell them all!

All sorts of shops at the Chelsea Market!

Inside the market...

We continued to walk and shop in the Chelsea and Meatpacking District, and then headed back to the Times Square area for some PIZZA!!!
After we re-fuelled with our pizza we headed back to our hotel room for a short rest and to get ready for the evening out!

Then it was time to head to THIS...
JT and Jay Z at Yankee Stadium!!
These tickets were my anniversary gift from my WONDERFUL husband!!!

Before heading to the concert we had dinner ate Heartland Chophouse and Brewery just down the street from our hotel.
It was VERY yummy and I had my first piece of New York Cheesecake!

After dinner we hopped on the Subway (with what seemed like a zillion people!!!) and headed to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx!

And we arrived to THIS...
A SEA of people!!
Oh good...the ENTIRE state decided to come to the concert tonight!!!
The amount of people we battled through that night before and after the concert was like NOTHING i have ever experienced before. CRAZY!! But totally worth it!!!

Woo Hoo! We are at Yankee Stadium!
It was a HUGE and beautiful building!!

The stage set up was incredible!!!

And some more people...like 70,000 people actually...HA!

We found our seats! They were great! This was pretty much the only time we sat, because once the concert started we were on our feet the whole time!

Trying to cool down with some lemonade! It was still 40'C out at this time...

Waiting for it to get dark so the concert could start...

And then it started!! Unfortunately pictures were hard to get due to it being so dark, and then all of the extra lights and things on the stages....so here are a few that you can actually see something!

It was the most AMAZING concert I think I have ever been to!! JT and Jay Z sang nothing but hits for 2 hours straight!! It was soooooo awesome and definitely a MAJOR highlight of our trip!!!

And because I wasn't having much luck with photos of the concert, I switched to videos instead.
I think I took 10 videos that night! Ha!
Sooooo here is a little treat for you all!!
This is definitely my favourite video I took from the concert!

I about DIED when Alicia Keys came out to sing with Jay Z!! Sooo cool!!
Guess those kind of things happen in New York...

What a GREAT end to another awesome day!
