Fun in Florida!

In the middle of July we embarked on our first vacation as a family of three! We headed to the hot heat in Florida to visit Damian's grandparents for a week! I had never had the opportunity to meet his grandparents before and ever since Sophia was born they have been waiting to meet her as well! His grandparents are 92 and 96 years old, thus they do not travel! Soooo that meant a good reason for us to go to them! I was VERY nervous to fly with a two month old baby! Especially with a two month old with COLIC! Ha! BUT we all made it out alive and Sophia did AMAZING on all 4 of the flights we had to take! Thank goodness!!

We had an early morning flight so a sleeping baby made it alot easier to navigate through the airport with all of our stuff!! And my goodness babies need a TON of stuff!!!

This is how impressed she was that we had to wake her up to go through security and to board the plane! Poor girlie!!

Just hanging out in the Ottawa airport waiting for our next flight!

We arrived in Florida! Hooray! After a whole day of travel we were all exhausted!!
Sophia and I waited with all of our bags while Damian went to pick up our rental vehicle!

We were greeted with warm cookies when we arrived at the hotel!
Well played hotel, well played!!

We headed down to the hotel restaurant for some dinner and probably the best mojito I've ever had!

Then it was early to bed!
Love these two peeps!! And no, that is NOT where she slept!! Ha! She had her own crib!

Up bright and early to head to the beach!!
Unfortunately after being at the beach for 20 minutes it started to POUR!!
At least miss Sophia looked cute tho!

Catching some rays before the rain came!

We escaped the rain by going shopping and for lunch!
We went to this amazing little pub and had cheese fondue as an appetizer.
It was SOOO yummy!!

DELICIOUS!!

Me and my lil lady hanging out on the balcony of our room.
Our hotel was right on a marina so we had lots of 'boat traffic' coming through.
Sophia enjoyed watching the boats!!

Our hotel was quite accommodating for a baby! Except for one thing...NO BATHTUB!
And the bathroom sink was about the size of a dinner plate so that plan didn't work either! Soooo we had to do some improvising! We headed to target and bought a plastic bin to bathe our child in!! Worked like a charm!

Thank you for the safety warning HOWEVER we actually specifically bought this bin to put our child into! Without the lid of course!! Ha!
Sophia was such a trooper!

Time to head to the pool! Sophia was excited to try out swimming in a pool for the first time! And of course she had to wear a different bathing suit! (She gets this from her Mommy and Aunty Brit!!)

We started with just dipping in her toes! The pool water was pretty warm!

Then she needed a bit of a sleep in the shade!

Back awake and ready for some more pool action with Daddy!

Sophia really enjoyed the pool and was kicking up a storm!

That evening we drove to Fort Lauderdale to visit with Damian's grandparents!
They were excited to meet me, but WAAAAY more excited to meet Sophia!
And I don't blame them! Ha!

We had a wonderful visit with them and then went out for a great dinner! It was so nice to meet them in persona finally after all of these years! They are the sweetest people and are doing AMAZING considering their ages!! Damian's grandpa is 96 years old and still golfs once a week, goes swimming, drives his car, and looks after the house! Totally inspiring!!

Sophia got LOTS of snuggles!! And she loved it!

Another day at the beach, means another bathing suit!
Check out those thighs! Ha ha!

Enjoying the shade in the stroller!!

The beautiful beach! It was about a 5 minute walk from our hotel!

Me and my lil lady!
She loved watching the waves!

Dipping her toes in the ocean for the first time!
She also LOVED scrunching the sand between her toes!

My little family at the beach!

Love this handsome guy!

All dressed up and ready for dinner!

Unfortunately lil miss Sophia decided she didn't want her parents to eat dinner together on this night...So we took turns parading her around the restaurant and eating to keep her calm! Ha!

Another day at the beach! Bathing suits optional! Ha!
We spent a few hours at the beach and then it started to rain! So that meant shopping time!

I was very intrigued by this store and seriously wish we had them in Canada!!
It is an organizers dream land!!

That evening we went back to Fort Lauderdale for another visit with Damian's grandparents.
We took them for Italian food and then headed back to there house for dessert!

I am SO glad I finally got to meet them!!

Lots more snuggles for miss Sophia!!

Sophia has a thing with light fixtures and ceiling fans...ha ha!

They are very proud great grandparents!!

Getting all snugly after a nice bath in the plastic bin!! Ha!

We decided to head to Miami on the day of our anniversary (July 17)!
It was only about an hour drive from where we were staying in Boca Ratan so it was great!

Road trip selfie!
I am not a very fun road trip partner...I fell asleep about 45 seconds after I took this picture!

Miami!

We went to a zoo called Jungle Island! It was super cool!!

We saw a TON of neat animals!!

Sophia missed most of it...this is what she was doing! Ha!

She decided to wake up to see the flamingos!

Family pic at Jungle Island!

Love these two!

After we left Jungle Island, we headed to Miami beach for lunch and a walk.

Another beautiful beach!

That evening we went for dinner at a restaurant called Chop to celebrate our 2nd anniversary!
It was an AWESOME meal and Sophia slept for most of it which made it even better!
It was a great way to celebrate!!

Our last day in Florida! We headed to the beach one last time!

Sophia playing in the ocean with Daddy! She loved staring at her feet in the sand!

WAVES!

Me and my lil beach baby!

After a great day at the beach we headed back to Miami for a baseball game!
The Miami Marlins were playing the San Fransico Giants.

We arrived at the stadium nice and early so we could grab dinner!
 Ballpark hot dogs of course!!
And Sophia had a nice sleep!

She did eventually wake up and enjoyed the game! Her first ever MLB game!

Sitting with Daddy! She looks like a HOT MESS in this picture! Ha! Poor baby!!

Saturday morning we got up early, packed up our things and headed to the airport to come home! Sophia did wonderful on the flights again and loved just laying in my lap and playing with whatever she could reach!
It was a GREAT trip and I am so glad we were able to go!!
