A new year...

Happy New Year!

 2015 has arrived, and it's time to make it the very best year ever! We had a VERY low key New Years Eve this year and it was PERFECT! During the day we took Sophia swimming to a new rec centre nearby, and then once we put her to bed for the evening, Damian and I set up for fondu. We then proceeded to eat our faces off for a few hours! ha! After we were SUPER full, we played  a few games of Jenga, had some fancy champagne, kissed at midnight, and then promptly went to bed! We really know how to live it up, hey?! It was a wonderful evening and it was nice to just hang out together!

And now that the year has officially begun, its time to work on those New Years resolutions!! The last few years I have tried to make a better effort at making goals and sticking to them. Being a teacher, goal setting is something that we do on a regular basis with our students, as well as in our professional development.  So bringing these goals into my daily life seemed important too! Two years ago my New Years resolution was to start this blog! And I'm glad to still being going strong with it. Last year my New Years resolution was to document a picture on instagram every single day. And I completed that as well! This year I have decided to make 'monthly goals' instead of just one BIG goal for the entire year. I have lots I want to accomplish this year but I figured I would be MUCH more successful if I broke down my goals by month. Some goals will be bigger than others, and some months will have more goals than others! That's just life! 

I am a 'notebook' collector...and I LOVE lists!! So when I saw this AWESOME notebook at HomeSense, I knew it would be perfect for my 2015 monthly goals!

I am going to post my goals on my blog each month to keep myself accountable. I will also give a bit of an overview of how I did the previous month with completing my goals. It's nice to have moral support from such wonderful people!!

So here are my January goals...

Pretty self explanatory! 

1. I haven't worked out since I had Sophia...yikes! Time to hit the treadmill! 

2. We have SOOO many toys all of a sudden and I have no idea how to make sense of the toy madness without making my house look like a daycare! Stay tuned to see how I figure this out...ha!

3. I have made good progress on the disaster we call our basement...a few more hours and it should be done!

4.Spending time with my hubby always seems to fall to the wayside when there are bottles to wash, laundry to fold, meals to plan, or I'm sneaking some 'me' time! I need to work at making this more of a priority!! 

And because I enjoyed doing my #kpkeveryday2014 pictures so much, I have started it again!

Goodbye 2014...

And just like that...another year has come and gone!! I really wish I knew where time goes these days. It feels like I was just working on my 'Goodbye 2013' blog post....and yet here I am saying farewell to 2014 already! This has been quite the year for Damian and I!! LOT'S of changes and LOT'S of excitement. And of course our fair share of ups and downs as well...but I try my best to keep it positive on this lil old blog of mine! ha! I love doing a New Years post because I love to look back at the past year and re-live all of the wonderful memories we have from that year. So here we go! 

This was 2014...

a year we will NEVER forget!!!

*January*

We tried to keep things 'low key' in January after a busy holiday season! 

We spent lots of time buying and preparing things for Sophia's arrival!

*February*

We celebrated Valentine's Day with a wonderful dinner at the Red Ox Inn. I also battled to stay healthy in February! I was literally catching everything my little students had, so after suffering from bronchitis for a few weeks I was put on a two week medical leave, which was exactly what I needed!! I spent a lot of the month just laying low.

*March*

This was a CRAZY busy month!! We celebrated St. Patrick's Day in grade one, and tried to catch a Leprechaun with our traps. We had our last ultra sound to see our sweet daughter! She was so big at that point that all we could really get a good picture of was her hand...which looks like a foot! ha! I had my LAST days of teaching for the school year, right before Spring break! We travelled to Powell River for Bailey and Matt's wedding. We attended Lucas' baptism, where I was honoured to be asked to be his god mother! 

 *April*

At the beginning of April we went to Vancouver for our 'babymoon'! My cousin Lyndey hosted a family baby shower for me and peanut. And on that exact day, my little brother played in his very first NHL game! (Dad and Kellen attended the game in Washington...Mom, Damian, and Brit stayed home with very pregnant ME!) We had our maternity pictures taken. 

*May*

 May 10, 2014 we welcomed our beautiful daughter Sophia Jo Kirchner to the world! The very next day was my first Mother's Day!! We spent the whole month adapting to our new life of a family of three! I had some health complications nine days after giving birth that landed me with a lovely ambulance ride and another hospital stay...but things improved quickly! 

 *June*

Sophia turned one month old! We celebrated Damian's first Father's Day. My wonderful friends hosted a baby shower for Me and Sophia. We battled COLIC with Sophia. Not fun! Ha!

 *July*

Sophia turned two months old! We celebrated Canada Day with some friends. Sophia went to her first parade. We took our first family holiday to Florida to visit Damian's grandparents. We celebrated our second wedding anniversary!!

*August*

Sophia turned 3 months old! We spent lots of time outside going for walks and to the local farmer's markets. Sophia went to the driving range for the first time. We celebrated my Dad's 61st birthday with a Pirate Party! We enjoyed going to Taste of Edmonton for some delicious treats.

*September*

Sophia turned 4 months old! We celebrated my 29th birthday! We celebrated Brit's GOLDEN 24th birthday! Sophia went golfing at the Mayfair for the first time! We went to the zoo. Sophia started her first swimming lessons. We took our 'Four Generations' picture with Sophia, Me, my Mom, and Grandma. We said goodbye to Uncle Cody for the hockey season! Sophia saw SNOW for the first time. 

*October*

Sophia turned 5 months old! We celebrated Thanksgiving with both sides of the family. We went to the pumpkin patch! Sophia dressed up for Halloween for the first time! We celebrated my grandma's 98th birthday!!!

*November*

Sophia turned 6 months old! We enjoyed lots of walks outside in the mild fall weather. We celebrated Damian's Moms birthday. We celebrated my Mom's birthday. We celebrated Damian's GOLDEN 29th birthday! HOLY BIRTHDAY MONTH!!

*December*

Sophia turned 7 months old! We decorated the house all up for Christmas! Sophia met Santa for the first time! Bailey and I had our annual Christmas baking day. We celebrated 'Kunyk Christmas'. We went to Candy Cane Lane. We celebrated Sophia's first Christmas with both sides of our families! 

And that was 2014!!! What an amazing year it was!!! 

And I know 2015 will be just as BIG as 2014 was!! Our sweet little girl will be turning ONE! I will be returning to teaching part - time, Damian and I both turn the big 3-0!!, we have a trip to Vegas planned, My Mom turns 60!!, Damian's parents both turn 70!!, and SO much more is in the works!! Stay tuned!!
