During the first week of June, we took a little family trip to San Diego! Damian was attending a conference for work there for the week, so Sophia and I decided to tag along and enjoy the opportunity to explore California. Because I had just been subbing for May/June, I simply booked myself off for the week and was able to go! Ah, the joys of subbing!! (which is pretty much the only joy by the way...ha ha) Neither of us had been to San Diego before so we were pretty excited to check it out!!
Bright and early breakfast at the airport!
They have a kids play area which Sophia LOVED!
And we tried to 'tire' her out as much as we could before the flight.
Getting ready to board the plane!
I was VERY nervous at this point, flying with a very energetic little girl!!
And apparently I had nothing to worry about...because she did GREAT!!!
We were really lucky that the flight attendants were very accommodating and gave us an extra seat between us. So Sophia had extra room to move and stretch out!
She doesn't typically get treats like this...but I was willing to give her
anything to avoid any melt downs on an airplane FULL of people ha!
Sitting like a big girl!! Where did our baby go?!
Family airplane selfie!
We finally arrived in San Diego, and this was the beautiful view from our beach front room!
Sophia was checking out our patio!
We went for a walk along the beach and to check out the area we were staying in!
We headed to the local grocery store called 'Ralphs'!
And they had this cool beer display! We thought this was such a great idea!!
Back on the patio, hanging out before bedtime!
After we got Sophia down for the night, Damian and I relaxed on the patio! And we enjoyed a few drinks! Gotta love drinking beer out of a hotel bathroom glass, and Malibu and coke from a coffee mug! ha!
#hotelproblems
Cheers!
The next next we woke up bright and early! Damian was off to the conference all day, so Sophia and I headed out to do some exploring.
All dressed and ready to hit the beach!
We found a park along the water, so we played there for a little while!
And while we were walking we stopped and watched these people do a yoga class on surf boards!
It was VERY impressive!!
And I told Sophia I thought we should move into one of these houses asap...and she agreed! :)
We had lunch back at the hotel!
Then we had a nap and hung out in the hotel room until Damian was done for the day!
Just me and my girl, hanging out in the sand!
We found this great little Mexican restaurant for dinner!
This was the BEST watermelon mojito EVER!!
My dinner dates!
The food was all very fresh and AMAZING!!
Wednesday morning we ordered room service for breakfast and did some playing!
Our resort had lots of birds and wildlife all over the place!
Sophia loved watching these parrots!
Then Sophia and I ventured out in our GIANT rental vehicle! I had NEVER driven such a big vehicle in all my life and was super nervous!! BUT I LOVED IT!!! And now I have decided I want a new BIG vehicle like this Suburban! ha!!
This is me getting ready to drive the beast vehicle!
And hoping we arrive at a destination safely!!
Damian went golfing at the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course, so we met up with him for lunch afterwards! It was a beautiful golf course, and Damian was on cloud nine after golfing!! #bucketlist
After lunch, we headed back to the hotel for some pool action before nap time!
Sophia would swim ALL DAY LONG if we would let her!
She also likes to drink pool water! ICK!
That evening, we headed to Petco Park for the San Diego Padres baseball game!
It was a beautiful evening!
Sophia enjoyed all of the snacks!
Trying to protect her ears!
Though she liked holding the headphones more than she liked wearing them!
Family Selfie at the baseball game!
Thursday morning, Damian headed back to the conference and Sophia and I hit up IHOP for breakfast!
*and YES she is still in her pyjamas!*
Blueberry lemonade pancakes FOR THE WIN! They were delicious!!
Sophia was NOT feeling the IHOP selfie with Mommy!
After nap, we headed out to find TARGET!!
I had been missing Target since it had shut down at home, so I was pretty excited to do some target shopping once again!! #obsessed
Now I can almost guarantee 99% of you will think I am INSANE for taking these pictures...however, one of my most favourite things about shopping in new places, is finding different things that we cant buy at home! And then I buy them all!! hahaha!! So if you are not on board with my crazy target finds...then skip these next pictures!
THESE WERE SOOOO GOOD!!!
I could LIVE in this aisle!! Hello party planners dream!!
And my shopping companion!
She is a happy shopper as long as I keep the snacks coming!
Later that evening, we headed out for a walk!
It was really overcast, but still very warm!
Beautiful views!
Sophia fell asleep on our walk!
She was all bundled and cozy!
Friday was our last full day, so we got ready and headed to the ZOO!
Our zoo pictures will be a separate post...as I think I took 200 pictures! ha!
These are the ducks that would hang out right outside of our hotel room!
Sophia loved looking at them and 'chatting' with them!
After we spent the day at the zoo, we stop in at Qualcomm Stadium. This is the home of the San Diego Chargers! Which also happens to be Damian's favourite football team!
Of course we had to go to the team store and stock up on a TON of Chargers gear!
Friday night, Damian picked up some delicious take out food for us and we enjoyed a late dinner once Sophia went to bed!
Saturday morning was beautiful!! And we were so sad to have to say goodbye to our wonderful resort and beautiful San Diego weather!
We did one last walk around the resort so Sophia could say goodbye to all of the fish!
There was a beautiful waterfall right at the front of the resort.
And more fish!
Then we walked to IHOP for breakfast before we had to pack up and head to the airport!
Sophia had a nap while Damian and I packed everything up!
Then we hung out on the patio and went for one last walk along the beach!
Oh how I miss this view!
Sophia was loving the water!!
And of course, tried to drink it!
We finally got everything organized, packed, and to the airport!
All our luggage!! ugh! Babies need SO much STUFF!!
Miss Smiley waiting patiently to head home!
We absolutely LOVED San Diego and we will definitely be going back there for a vacation in the future!!
