Friday Favourites!

Yahoo it's FRIDAY!
I'm linking up this week with AndreaErika, and Narci for Friday Favourites! If you have a blog, you should link up with your favourites from the week too!

-ONE-
Sophia went on her first EVER sleepover to Grandma and Grandpa's house!
She was pretty darn excited and loved using her new suitcase!!

-TWO-
And because Sophia was gone for the night....Damian and I got to go for dinner and then to a movie!
It was such a treat!!

-THREE-
So this is definitely NOT a favourite...however we got some great news later in the week about Sophia's leg and that WAS a favourite!!
Sophia broke her leg while she was dancing/twirling at my parents house! She just fell weird on her leg...like she does about 100 times a day since she is learning how to walk still! And she managed to fracture the bottom of her tibia right above her ankle. Originally she was put in a full leg cast and we were told she would have to wear it for 4 weeks! UGH!!
BUT then we met with the surgeon at the Stollery Children's Hospital and he said that because she is still learning to walk it would be better to give her a smaller, walking cast, and to only have it on for 2 weeks!! YAHOO!! Her smaller pink cast is SO MUCH BETTER and she is already figuring out how to walk in it!!

-FOUR-
I made S'more Dip and it was AMAZING!!
This is the recipe I used:
S'more Dip

-FIVE-
It has been HOT out and I am LOVING it!!
We are keeping cool at our house by eating our weight in Popsicles!! These are the two flavours I made this week!
Watermelon Coconut

Banana Nutella Fudgesicle

Have a wonderful weekend!!
Enjoy this HOT weather while it lasts!!

A cool summer treat!

When I think of Summer, I think of a nice cool treat on a HOT day! Typically ice cream would be my 'go to' cool treat, however eating ice cream everyday is not exactly part of my diet these days! I have always LOVED Popsicles and fudgesciles but have always found them to be LOADED with sugar and pretty pricey for only a few treats. SO earlier this summer I purchased some Tupperware Popsicle molds from a friend, and I set out to make some yummy, somewhat 'healthy' Popsicle treats! These were the first two recipes that I tried and both turned out DELICIOUS!! And because they are made by me, I feel better about giving them to Sophia as a special treat on a hot day!

What you need:
2 cups chopped watermelon
1/3 cup shredded coconut

*Blend watermelon until smooth.
*Add in coconut and blend for another 10-15 seconds.
*Pour into Popsicle molds and allow to set in the freezer for at least 4 hours!
ENJOY!

What you need:
5 overripe bananas
1/2 cup Nutella

*Blend banana's in a blender until smooth.
*In a bowl, combine blended banana's and Nutella.
*Mix well!
*Pour into Popsicle molds and allow to set in the freezer for at least 4 hours!
ENJOY!

What's your favourite Popsicle combination!?

Our visit to the San Diego Zoo!

On our last full day in San Diego we headed to the world famous San Diego Zoo! Looking back, I would have to say that this was probably my favourite part of our trip! Other than shopping at Target, of course Ha!
We have taken Sophia to our local zoo, and to the Jungle Island zoo in Florida last summer, but neither of those compared to the San Diego Zoo. IT WAS INCREDIBLE!! We spent almost 5 hours there and we still didn't get a chance to see it all. It is HUGE! And has SO much to see. We will definitely be going back next time we are in San Diego!!

Our family at the zoo entrance!

A tad blurry!

Getting ready for our fun day at the zoo!

Planning out where we wanted to go first!

We saw LOTS of birds!!

Penguins!

Flamingos!

Then we went to the monkey area!

Sophia had just started walking independently the day before so she was insistent about walk around the zoo to check things out!

Clearly the animals were more interesting than my selfie...

Tigers!

The hippo!

Damian and Sophia hanging out by the hippo tank!

The whole zoo was like a big jungle. It was so neat!

Grizzly bear!

Sophia liked watching the grizzly in the water!

We stopped for lunch and then some ice cream!

Then off to see the giraffes!

Cutest little baby giraffe!

And a DONKEY named Sophia...ugh ha ha

There's little donkey Sophia!

And we saw a rhinoceros! He was HUGE!!

The koalas were definitely my favourite!

I just wanted to pluck one out of the tree and cuddle it!!

Right after the Koalas, Sophia fell asleep for about 30 minutes!
 Poor girl was ttttired!

Vultures!

Me and the camel!

They had a HUGE elephant sanctuary with 5 elephants!

Then we saw the lions!

Ew!

On the move!

Sleepy lion!

I LOVE polar bears so I was excited for this part of the zoo!

Damian made me crawl in there for a picture!
And then I almost got stuck ha ha

The polar bear was hiding in the shade!

Then we saw the reindeer!

And the zebra!

Selfie time!

And our last stop for the day was the Panda exhibit!
We saved it for last as it was VERY busy to get into!

The panda's were hiding in the very back so it was hard to see them to get a picture.
But it was still really neat to see!

And that was our zoo day!!
It was incredible to see so many amazing animals that we had never seen in real life before!!
It was a wonderful end to our San Diego holiday!
