April Goals

Well April is already half over and I am just getting around to posting my goals. That just seems to be the story of my life these days. Busy busy!!
Before I move on with my April Goals, lets see how I did for March...

These were my March Goals:

1. Well I definitely didn't slow down ha! But I sure did enjoy lots of play dates and fun activities with Sophia this month! I'd say we took advantage of my last little bit of Maternity Leave!

2. Well this was pretty hit and miss again this month. I wrapped up my Baby aquafit class and went for a TON of walks. But only managed to hit the treadmill a few times.
I guess this goal will always be a work in progress for me...

3. Well I didn't finish this book...but at least I STARTED reading it!! ha ha!
It is hilarious and I look forward to finishing it soon!!

4. I have no 'picture proof' of this goal...I figured you wouldn't want to see what I look like when I get up at 6:30am. But I did manage to get up before Sophia most days! I plan to continue with this as well to prepare me for going back to work next month!

And these are my April Goals...

1.This should come of NO surprise to you...but I have been planning Sophia's first birthday party in my head probably since the day she was born!! ha ha! However, as much as I LOVE party planning, I am having VERY mixed emotions about my baby girl turning ONE next month. But the party must go on!! ha! So I will be planning away this month!!

2. I WILL finish that book this month!! This goal has been three months in the making and it needs to be completed.

3. I have been in a bit of a cooking slump lately and have been having troubles coming up with new meals to enjoy. This month I will try at least one new recipe a week. And if they are good...I will share them on the blog!! :)

4. This is it folks...my last month of Maternity Leave! My goodness that year went fast!! So I plan to savour every last minute of it!! And I guess I shouldn't complain TOO much about going back to work...Summer Break is only a few months away! :)

March Goals

It's March!! We are already 5 days into the month and I'm finally just getting around to posting my March goals. Hopefully at some point I will have these posts ready for the first of the month...maybe! ha! Before I move into my March goals, I need to reflect on my February goals. And lets just say that February didn't really go as planned in the whole 'goal' situation!! I definitely underestimated how sick I would be after getting my tonsils out and that put me on the sidelines of just about everything for a full two weeks. And with February only having four weeks in the first place...I kinda ran out of time to complete things.I hope to make better progress this month!

These were my February goals...
1. Well I was only able to do physical activity 2 out of the 4 weeks in February due to my surgery! So I will count that as a win! But I will also continue to keep this goal for March.

2. Complete! This is what my recipe cupboard looked like before...YIKES! ha! I have a ton of great cookbooks, as well as a TON of recipes that I have printed off. So I needed to figure out a way to organize them!

I sorted all of my 'paper' recipes and put them into categories!

Then I organized them into a BIG binder!

Yahoo! Nice and organized!!

3. I didn't end up getting my sewing machine out this month like I had hoped...but I did complete a few projects that involved fabric ha ha! Does that count?! I made this bow holder for Sophia's room, and I made a bunch of bows and headbands for a few special girls! (Post about that coming soon!)

4. I did it!! I ate breakfast everyday! Once again, because of my surgery I was 'eating' an Ensure shake (GROSS)  for about 2 weeks for breakfast ha! But I figure that should count!!

5. Epic FAIL. I read a total of ZERO books. I currently have 3 books on my shelf all ready to go. But it just didn't happen this month! Boo!!

And now onto my March goals...

1. My number one goal this month is to SLOW DOWN! The last few months have been particularly CRAZY BUSY! And I only have 2 more months of maternity leave with Sophia so I need to take it down a notch and really focus on what matters...my time spent with her!!

2. Once again, I am striving to get back into the fitness routine!!

3. I will try my best to dust off a book and READ it this month!! Fingers crossed I make better progress on this goal than I did last month!

4. I read an article online last week about how important it is for Moms to take some time in the day for themselves, and to just gather their thoughts. It was an amazing article and really motivated me to try to do this more often. So my plan is to set my alarm 30 minutes before Sophia wakes up every morning. This will give me time to wake up a little bit more leisurely, catch up on some of the blogs I like to read, or do a few things around the house before we start our day! It will also get me back into a routine of waking up early to head back to work...ugh!!

Have a great month!!

February Goals

Where the heck did January go?! Typically I always feel like January is a 'slow' month after the Christmas craziness and such, but this year it seemed to disappear right before my eyes! Today I am reporting on my January goals that I set for myself, as well as posting my February goals. This may be boring for you to read, however I need all the help I can get these days to keep myself accountable!

These were my January goals...

I feel like I did a really good job accomplishing my January goals!
1. I managed to work out at least twice every week in January! The weather was VERY mild this month, so we were able to go for lots of walks as a family in the evenings. Sophia and I also started our Mommy and baby aquasize class, so that was a bonus workout each week!

2. I created two separate 'play' areas for Sophia. One area is in our main floor living room. We used to have a decorative chair and side table in this corner, but I got rid of those pieces to make room for our growing toy collection!

I also moved this Ikea shelf from another room in our house, and converted it into another toy shelf up in our bonus room! I put some of her toys in the wicker baskets from Ikea, and other toys will stay out on the open shelves. I added chalkboard labels to each basket, and drew a picture of what belongs in each basket. Eventually I will erase the chalkboard picture and just write the word, however since she is only 9 months old...we will stick with picture association for now! ha!

3. I finished organizing the basement! And oh my word, this was a BIG job!!! I didn't take any before pictures...which is too bad, because it would show a HUGE difference. Just picture a GIANT mess of things...with a small path through the middle to navigate through. It was a HOT MESS! Things are MUCH more organized now, and hopefully we can keep it that way.

Just SOME of my teaching stuff...ugh!

4. I feel like I spent a little bit more quality time with Damian this month...though I have discovered as new parents, this will be something we will ALWAYS have to work at since there is so much on the go now! We did manage to get out for dinner just the two of us one evening. And we also had quite a few hot tub dates and movie/TV couch nights! Success!

And now onto my February Goals...
1. I figured I should continue with the exercise goal this month, until it becomes part of my daily routine again!
2. I love to cook. Thus, I have a TON of cookbooks. I also have a TON of loose recipes that I have printed off or ripped out of a magazine. This month I need to figure out some sort of organizational system for my mountain of recipes!
3. I had gotten into a groove with a few sewing projects back in the Fall, and haven't had a chance to work on anything since then. I have quite a few sewing projects on my 'to do' list, so this month I am hoping to find time to at least complete ONE of them!
4. Eat breakfast! Yikes...It's sad that I need to make this a goal. Plain and simple...I have never liked eating breakfast. And since having Sophia, I find that noon comes around and I realize I still haven't eaten anything yet! Soooo I'm planning on working on that this month!
5. Read! I hate to admit this, especially because I am a teacher...but I hate to read!! I love children's books, and short stories, but as an adult I have never found reading to be enjoyable. However, there are a few books that have peeked my interest lately, so I plan on picking a few up this month!

A new year...

Happy New Year!
2015 has arrived, and it's time to make it the very best year ever! We had a VERY low key New Years Eve this year and it was PERFECT! During the day we took Sophia swimming to a new rec centre nearby, and then once we put her to bed for the evening, Damian and I set up for fondu. We then proceeded to eat our faces off for a few hours! ha! After we were SUPER full, we played  a few games of Jenga, had some fancy champagne, kissed at midnight, and then promptly went to bed! We really know how to live it up, hey?! It was a wonderful evening and it was nice to just hang out together!

And now that the year has officially begun, its time to work on those New Years resolutions!! The last few years I have tried to make a better effort at making goals and sticking to them. Being a teacher, goal setting is something that we do on a regular basis with our students, as well as in our professional development.  So bringing these goals into my daily life seemed important too! Two years ago my New Years resolution was to start this blog! And I'm glad to still being going strong with it. Last year my New Years resolution was to document a picture on instagram every single day. And I completed that as well! This year I have decided to make 'monthly goals' instead of just one BIG goal for the entire year. I have lots I want to accomplish this year but I figured I would be MUCH more successful if I broke down my goals by month. Some goals will be bigger than others, and some months will have more goals than others! That's just life!

I am a 'notebook' collector...and I LOVE lists!! So when I saw this AWESOME notebook at HomeSense, I knew it would be perfect for my 2015 monthly goals!

I am going to post my goals on my blog each month to keep myself accountable. I will also give a bit of an overview of how I did the previous month with completing my goals. It's nice to have moral support from such wonderful people!!

So here are my January goals...

Pretty self explanatory!
1. I haven't worked out since I had Sophia...yikes! Time to hit the treadmill!

2. We have SOOO many toys all of a sudden and I have no idea how to make sense of the toy madness without making my house look like a daycare! Stay tuned to see how I figure this out...ha!

3. I have made good progress on the disaster we call our basement...a few more hours and it should be done!

4.Spending time with my hubby always seems to fall to the wayside when there are bottles to wash, laundry to fold, meals to plan, or I'm sneaking some 'me' time! I need to work at making this more of a priority!!

And because I enjoyed doing my #kpkeveryday2014 pictures so much, I have started it again!
And I would love for you to join in!! Just post a picture every day on instagram! It is so awesome to have an entire year 'in pictures' at the end!
