New York - Day 8

Today was our last day in New York! We were lucky enough to get a later flight out in the evening so we still had most of the day to explore and finish up any last minute things we wanted to do in NYC!

We had a nice breakfast at the The Urban Diner, next to our hotel. This was the only actual sit down breakfast we had the entire trip!!

After breakfast we had to go back to the hotel to check out and finish organizing and packing all of our stuff! And we mmmmay have had to buy an extra bag to take home all of our New York 'treasures'!! Ha!

After checking out of the hotel we did some more wandering around the streets of NYC!

We came across the Waldorf Historia Hotel!

Inside...

Damian!

Then we came upon Bloomingdale's! We shopped around in there for a little while and I managed to buy a bracelet! I knew I couldn't buy anything big because I had NOT A CM of space left in any of my suitcases!! Ha!

After Bloomingdale's we headed to Dylan's Candy Bar! We were told by our sales guy at Ralph Lauren that we just HAD to go check out this candy store!! And he also informed us that Dylan is Ralph Laurens daughter! The candy store was incredible! It was 3 floors of candy heaven!! Ha!!

And they even had a chocolate bar with my name on it!! Of course I HAD to buy it!!

After spending WAY to much time in the candy store and some more walking around, it was time for our LAST slice of NYC pizza and to head to the air port...

Me enjoying my last slice...

Damian enjoying his last slice...

We jumped into the cab and set off for the airport! It was hard to believe that our New York trip had come to an end already!!

It was such an AMAZING trip and definitely one that we will remember forever!
It was the BEST way to spend our first wedding anniversary for sure!!!

New York - Day 7

Today was our last FULL day in New York! Hard to believe that the trip went bye so fast!!
We headed back to Central Park today so we could go to the Zoo! Its not a huge zoo, but it has some great animals, so i enjoyed it!

Heading into the zoo...

First up we walked through the bird area! There were a TON of different birds in this area and they were just free to roam around, which I thought was a little bit odd! I spent most of my time making sure I didn't get pooped on!! Ha!

Next up we visited the Lemurs! They were SO cute! And very lazy!

Checking out the snow monkeys!

I was SO excited to see a polar bear!! I spend a whole month on a polar bear unit with my lil grader one kiddos so I was excited to get LOTS of pictures! However the polar bear had a different plan that day...he decided to come out of his little covered den area for about 45 seconds! SO I only managed to get one pictures! And in my one and only picture it looks like the polar bear is eating my foot because of the reflection of the glass!! Ha ha!! Darn polar bear!!!

Then we headed to visit the Penguins!

And our last stop were the seals!

Beautiful Central Park!

Sitting on a park bench, enjoying the scenery!!

After leaving Central Park we headed to the MET ( Metropolitan Museum of Art).

This art Museum was GIGANTIC!! Like I had said in an earlier post, we are not huge into art galleries and museums and such, but we wanted to at least check it out for a little bit!

They had a TON of really neat pieces from all over the world and from many different time periods.

Paintings!

I liked looking at the more modern pieces the best!

After the MET we did some more shopping and walking around in the Upper East Side/Madison Avenue!

Damian really wanted to go into the Ralph Lauren Mens store. The actual building that the store is in is called the Reinhold Mansion and it is a New York Monument! It was a BEAUTIFUL store and 5 floors! Our sales guy that was helping us actually ended up giving us a tour of the whole building and telling us lots about the store and Ralph Lauren himself! It was pretty cool!

Then we ended up back on Times Square to head towards our hotel...

After doing a little bit of organizing and packing back in the hotel, we got cleaned up and set out for our last night in NYC!
We ended up taking the subway to the Upper West Side and having dinner at a place call PJ Clarkes. It was an oyster bar and lounge.

CHEERS TO OUR LAST NIGHT!
And an AMAZING trip!!

The food was awesome!! Damian went crazy with lots of oysters and seafood and I had chicken pot pie! Yummm!

After dinner is was POURING rain!! It was the ONLY rain we had the entire trip!!
So we popped into a nearby drug store and bought 2 umbrellas so we could still do some walking around on our last night!

We walked to Lincoln Centre to check the fountain out. You can see me spotting my lovely hot pink umbrella!

Then we found the New York City Ballet buildings!

Me practicing my ballet moves!
Its been about 6 years since I did any kind of dancing ha ha and I'd probably go into cardiac arrest if I tried to dance like I used to be able to!!!

After checking out the New York City Ballet we continued to explore the Upper West Side for a little while, but the rain was REALLY bad! So we walked back to the hotel and started to sort through our things and prepare to leave the next day! How sad!!
But it was still a GREAT last night in NYC!!!

New York - Day 6

We started off the day with continental breakfast in our hotel and then started walking towards Rockefeller Centre!

We went inside Rockefeller Centre and they had lots of displays and pictures of the famous NBC shows. It is a HUGE building!!

Going into the 'NBC Expereince' gift shop was pretty awesome, as they had souvenirs for EVERY show on NBC!

This is just outside of the NBC studios.
In the summer this area is a Cafe, but in the winter they turn it into a skating rink!
That would be SO cool to see!!

The Cafe area...

Rockefeller Centre...

I'm not exactly sure what Damian is doing here...Praying?! Ha!

When we were done exploring Rockefeller Centre we headed to Grand Central Station to catch the subway to go to the Mets Baseball game.
Like everything else in New York, Grand Central Station is GIANT!!

It was extremely busy! And loud! It was so neat to see it in real life after seeing it on TV and in SO many movies!!

We arrived at Citi Field on a PACKED subway with lots of eager Mets fans!

Waiting in line to get into Citi Field...

These tiles were on the around all the way around the entrance to Citi Field! You can buy a tile and customize a message or have one dedicated to somebody! It was cool to read a bunch of the tiles!

Inside Citi Field! Today's Lineup...

Damian had purchased our tickets for the game quite far in advance so we had WONDERFUL seats!! We even had 'In Seat Service' which meant we had our own server during the game! His name was Fred! Ha!

The starting pitchers...
We really lucked out because these are two of Damian's favourite players!!

It was a great game and really entertaining!! There were 3 home runs which is always VERY exciting! The Mets won 5-0 so the stadium was pretty pumped about that!! This was also Damian's very first MLB game so that was also super exciting!! ( I had been to 2 MLB games before)

After the baseball game we were pretty exhausted and I was VERY sun burnt! So we headed back to the hotel for a bit of a rest, got cleaned up for dinner and then planned to head out on the town again!

But when we walked out the front doors of our hotel, this is what was happening...

And no, this is not some terrible accident scene... although that is exactly what it looks like! They were shooting a movie! Right in front of our hotel. And accidentally, we walked out right into the middle of where they were shooting! Ha! See all those 'normal' looking people standing around?? Well those are extras...and it was at that moment that we became extras as well! Ha ha! It was pppretty crazy!! What was also crazy was that everything posted about the movie on the set and around the area said that they were filming a movie called 'Four Square'. We didn't really think anything of it until we were talking about the movie with one of the guys that works at our hotel, and he informed us that the ACTUAL movie they were filming was the new Ninja Turtle movie coming out in 2014!!! They called is Four Square because that was the location (On Times Square). Apparently they give all MAJOR movies code names so that people don't freak out and form crowds around where they are filming! Well played Paramount, well played!! Had me totally fooled! Ha! I most definitely thought they were filming some lame movie called 'Four Square'! It was SUPER cool to see everything so up close and personal! Although I am ffairly sure they will 'cut' the two confused looking 'extras' out of the movie when they realize we were standing somewhere we were NOT supposed to be! Ha ha!!!

So after our big movie debut, HA, we went to a little Italian restaurant called Becco in Mid Town.

It was a delicious meal!!
My pasta was SO good, and they brought it out and served it to me right onto my plate!!

After our great meal we walked around Mid Town doing some shopping and sight seeing! Then we went to a lounge called 'Top of the Strand'. The lounge was on top of 'The Strand' hotel. It was such a neat little lounge! They had couches and benches to relax on and have a few drinks! And the view of the city was AMAZING!!

Chilling on the couches with my hubby!

Cheers! Gotta love enjoying drinks while LAYING on a couch outside!! Ha!

This was the view of the Empire State Building from the 'Top of the Strand'!
So beautiful!!

We spent a few hours at the lounge and then started our trek back to the hotel for the night! And then I saw THIS!! Nothing like a little Timmy's in NYC!!

Stay tuned for Day 7!
Our last FULL day in NYC!!
